Hi all,
My name is Solomon Moffat and I’m a Quantity Surveyor working on civil road projects in the Caribbean. I’m really enjoying using Kubla so far, but I’ve hit a workflow issue and would appreciate some guidance.
The Consultant wants to verify the earthworks quantities using the “old school” method: levels (or heights) at the LHS, Centre Line, and RHS every 5 m along the road corridor.
In Kubla I can see the existing and proposed levels at any point by hovering the mouse, but capturing these one-by-one is very tedious and time-consuming.
Is there a better way to extract this information – for example, generating a report or exporting section data at 5 m intervals – so that I can tabulate it for his checks and certification of quantities for payment?
Any tips, workflows, or documentation links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Howdy,

I frequently have to determine outlines based on being larger than a design structure. Examples are a building pad needing to be 5' larger than the building on the plan, or a parking lot excavation needing to be a foot larger than the defined parking structure. Is there an easy way to do this?

Currently, I add measurements all over the place from the designed structure to whatever outline I need. It just takes more time/tedious than I'd like so I'm hoping for a clever solution.
Thanks in advance!

I have multiple varying surface elevations for example the pond and ROW cuts and fills will be to plans minus the topsoil strip, however the road will be a -18" level. Unless i am wrong i need to make another featured surface for this varying level.
I do not want to have to manually re enter all the new contours.
Is there a way to copy the contours and points from one featured surface to the next?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I,m mike from Maryland, USA. Way to go Brandon!

My construction phase's: existing ground (-4" topsoil/not useable at compacted backfill), H.D.P. /mass grading (design ground elev. 2ft+/- above top of pre sited foundation elev., garage 1ft below gar. f.f. elev.), Finished grade (outline at fill limits, 3d contour lines, platform 3d polyline at 1ft below basement elev.)

My software crashes continuously happen when trying to cut in a platform/basement thru finished grade & thru into my mass grading surface. The idea behind our earthwork is to have a mass graded site at an elevation where when the contractor comes to cut in the basement and pour the concrete for the walls/foundation and the spoils from that work are then used to fill/final grade around the structures thus alleviating the need to remove excess earth.

My thought is that the k3 software does not want to cut thru multiple surfaces?

How can i work around this dilemma? should i change when i add the platform, i've tried multiple different solutions to no avail, please help before i lose my mind!
Thanks in advance
