Measurements - Count Function |
It would be incredibly helpful if there was a way to change the shape of the count function in the measurement feature to something else other than the "crosshairs" (+) for ease of visibility. For example a circle, square or triangle.
Right now, i use Kubla for my cut and fill analysis then switch to OST for the remainder of my takeoff (counting storm catch basins etc). If the measurement function was just a little bit more robust, including changing the shape of the count function and possibly a little bit of structure of the counted elements (group them into a category you could name) I could complete my entire takeoff for a project in Kubla.
Hi Jvalentine, thanks for the suggestion!
In the next update you’ll see some improvements we've been working on to the Count tool's labelling, tagging and exports, so keep an eye out for that soon. You can already group count points together by putting more than one point in a Count element and giving the element a name, and each point can have its own Tag which can be text or a Unicode character. We’ve logged your request to allow alternative shapes (circle, square, triangle, etc.), and this is something we’re actively looking into for future updates. You won't find them in the Input Data that will only show the total count not the groups.

Thank you Lloyd and Ted!
Ted, i have seen the yellow table in the estimation report with the count and other measurement values described by Lloyd. Other than the choice in shape, what i am inquiring / recomending be added is a category for organizing the measurement elements. When i am doing a takeoff for my utilities, it would be helpful if i could have create a "Storm Water" category that my catch basin counts, storm water pipe linear measurements, and subsurface stormwater area measurements could be a part of. Then a second "category" could be "Electrical" where my light pole base count, and underground electric linear measurement would be a part of. I attached a roughly edited screenshot of a proposed version with categories to better understand my recommendation. |
