  Dirt Compaction and Expansion
Posted by: pronto - 04-28-2025, 09:07 PM - No Replies

Howdy,

Is there a feature where you can add a modifier to the cut / fill?
I use an expansion of 1.2 on cut and compaction of 1.4 to fill. I have to pay/transport by loose yards and have to do the math all the time from the Cut & Fill report.

Thank you

Increase Outline by #5 for Building Pad
Posted by: pronto - 04-28-2025, 09:03 PM - Replies (1)

Howdy,

I frequently have to determine outlines based on being larger than a design structure. Examples are a building pad needing to be 5' larger than the building on the plan, or a parking lot excavation needing to be a foot larger than the defined parking structure.  Is there an easy way to do this?

Currently, I add measurements all over the place from the designed structure to whatever outline I need. It just takes more time/tedious than I'd like so I'm hoping for a clever solution.

Thanks in advance!

Kubla generating multiple lines when exporting to AutoCAD
Posted by: timetomaketracks - 04-25-2025, 09:32 AM - Replies (2)

Whenever I generate a CAD file from a Kubla project and it doesn't matter if its just from the existing base or from several levels, I always end up with multiple lines of the same contour line, which gives me significant issues with the CAD software I use.  I've tried using OVERKILL on AutoCAD to remove redundant lines but this doesn't seem to work.

Anyone have any tips for generating contour lines with a single line rather than several?

Thanks!

  Cropping a dwg file
Posted by: kolney - 04-16-2025, 03:12 PM - No Replies

I have a 3d cad file which I have imported and all the levels have come through perfectly to give a 3d model of the site in Kubla Cubed.
The dwg file covers an area which I need to split into 3 separate sites so that quantities can be worked out separately for each site.

I have tried to crop the dwg file but after doing so, the 3d model still appears and I only want to see part of it for each site.
Is it possible to crop to just the area of the file that I need?

Screen shot included to show the area needed for 1 isolated part of the site.
The remaining area will form part of another project so this will need cropping too

  Importing Surface as landXML issue
Posted by: Martin Bell - 11-29-2024, 09:50 PM - Replies (3)

Hi,

When I import a surface triangulation from Autocad as a landXML file, the triangulation in Kubla seems to ignore the boundaries I set in Autocad.

For example an "S" shaped driveway would join the extents so it would look like a rectangle.

Is their a way I can import with the boundaries set so I just have the driveway shape?

  STITCHING COMPLETED FILES
Posted by: jennimarie79 - 11-19-2024, 07:50 PM - Replies (1)

I have a subgrade plan with A LOT of existing contour lines.  The program cannot handle the entire plan so I uploaded the section plans (qt 4) and did my cut fill take off on each section.  Does anyone know if the completed projects can be stitched together?  I did it this way also, because when you bring the project into the into the line loading feature and when I attempt to use a filter to extract that particular line too many show up and I am unable to use that feature.  Along with the freezing, this has gotten old.  I can use the calculations of each individual section but I want to be sure it is producing the same numbers as if they were all in one file.  Hope that makes sense.

  Platform Calculations
Posted by: Nine25 - 11-02-2024, 08:52 AM - No Replies

Hi

I used to be able to cut to the bottom of my excavation with a platform element (FFL - layerworks depth) and got the Cut Volume
Then I added the layerworks up to FFL and got the Import material Volume
I stack my calculations from left to right as I would construct it, i.e. First NGL, then Cut, Then Fill

Now the platform is an absolute element that keep on referring back to GL.
Where do I tell it to calculate from the previous element and not the GL element?
What am I missing?

I am using KC2024 V7.3.8992.25276

I'm adding a driveway to a grading plan, but I can't get the arrow to show up for the slope tool in order to adjust it.
Does anyone know what I'm missing..... apart from the arrow!
Thanks
Mike
